Our classes

Satya Yoga offers a full range of classes for all levels of experience.  We believe that a good foundation of proper alignment and connection with the Earth is key to a strong practice. Similar to building a house, where the foundation allows for floors to be sturdily built on top of it, a strong and centered foundation in yoga allows the rest of the body to be correctly and safely aligned. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, we encourage the use of props as an extension of the body to help you find proper alignment safely and comfortably.

At Satya we believe that Ahimsa, the practice of non-harming and one of the Yamas prescribed in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, is an essential step on the path towards enlightenment. We live by the tenets of our favorite chant, Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu which means “May all beings be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.” We encourage our students to strive towards living their practice off the mat through kindness towards all beings.

Level I/All-Level Classes

All students are welcome, although if you are brand-new to yoga we recommend taking the Beginners class on Monday evenings at 6pm.

Art of Savasana

Treat yourself to a blissful restorative class and an indulgent, fully-propped “Calgon, take me away” savasana, the ultimate week’s end unwinding reward for both your body and your mind. This class is also appropriate for beginners.

Sunrise Flow

Awaken both your body and your mind in this fun and invigorating morning class. With an established morning practice, not only will you wake up easier and faster, but you’ll also leave class feeling energized and relaxed, focused and expansive with vitality and energy for your entire day.


TriYoga is an elegant, creative and powerful hatha/ vinyasa method that unites flowing and sustained asanas with a rhythmic breath and a meditative mind, taking the practitioner from warm-up to workout to deep relaxation in one session. The flow of energy that is enhanced through TriYoga is the flow of life itself, connecting the self to to stillness, to strength, and to self’s true nature which is pure presence in the here and now.

Half-Price Yoga

We believe that yoga should be available to everyone, regardless of your financial situation, and so we offer Half-Price Yoga on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 8-9pm. Join us and reap all of the benefits of yoga for half the price!

Donation Based Flow

As a continuation of the principle of why we offer Half Price Yoga, we don’t want anyone to be unable to practice because money is tight. Come every Saturday at 2pm, pay what you can, and practice with friends. Taught by Trista Jennings, who comes from Yoga To The People, a groundbreaking donation-based studio in New York City.

Level II Classes

Students comfortable with the fundamentals of yoga and those who have an established practice.

Satya is a Vinyasa-based studio, which means that we link postures in slow, controlled movements aligned with our breath. We recommend if you are a beginner that you attend a Level I class prior to coming to a Level II class: you’ll be more comfortable and familiar with each posture and can therefore work more easily to align each movement with your breath.


The Jivamukti Yoga method is an integral form of hatha yoga, combining elements of asana, philosophy, pranayama (breathwork) and social activism, intended as a path to enlightenment through compassion for all beings. ‘Jiva‘ means ‘individual soul’ and ‘mukta‘ means ‘liberation.’ Founders David Life and Sharon Gannon incorporated their study of Ashtanga yoga with Shri K. Pattabhi Jois with spiritual teachings passed along by their dear teachers Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati and Swami Nirmalananda, placing special emphasis on how to apply yogic philosophy to daily life. Jivamukti Yoga is “the practice of internal revolution, of liberating the only prisoner you can really free: your soul” (from Jivamukti Yoga by Gannon/Life). 

Additionally, Jivamukti classes are fun! Classes can be quite physically intense. Each class has a theme, which is explored through yoga scripture, chanting, meditation, a vigorous asana practice, pranayama, and music (expect a fun soundtrack in each class, ranging from The Beatles, Radiohead, and Krishna Das to hip hop). Jivamukti appeals to those who not only want a physically-challenging yoga class (be prepared to sweat), but who also want to deepen their practice and further their exploration of the philosophical and spiritual side of yoga.

Ashtanga Led Primary Series

A led class utilizing approximately 75 to 80% of the full primary series for beginning and intermediate students to establish a solid foundation of vinyasa – breath and movement – before moving on to the full primary series. This class is for anyone new to the Ashtanga practice or any student wanting to refresh the basics of the Primary Series. It will break down the sun salutation sequence and move through the more basic postures of a first series practice at a slower speed which will offer a greater explanation of postures and alignment.”

This class is not for anyone brand-new to yoga, but please come join us after you’ve experienced some Level I classes.

Advanced students are always welcome.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa means “breath synchronized movement,” sometimes also referred to as a “Flow” class, wherein the breath guides the body’s movement. Your instructor will lead you from one asana (pose) to the next either on an inhalation or an exhalation. In a Vinyasa Flow class, we move from posture to posture in a graceful, purposeful, dance-like manner. Vinyasa classes are quite diverse, depending on who your teacher is and what style of yoga they are teaching. Regardless of whether a Vinyasa class is gentle or rigorous, it will help you shift from the chaos of the outside world into a beautiful moving meditation.

Prenatal Yoga

We are thrilled to offer Prenatal Yoga to expectant mothers, and equally as thrilled that these classes will be lovingly taught by Bonnie Braithwaite, who was certified to teach Prenatal Yoga by a doula through Blooma. The benefits of  a yoga practice for an expectant mother are myriad: from calming the mind and learning beneficial breathwork techniques to building body awareness, stability and balance, yoga is an essential tool for a relaxed, mindful, blissful birth.
